California Trip - Amazing!

Hi everyone! I haven't been out here in a long while. Not sure I ever will be back to blogging again. I am debating about taking down my blog all together. Since the passing of my mom, working outside the home and my son leaving for college, I just don't have any motivation to be creative enough to keep a blog going. We'll see what happens.

Mr. Creative and I did go on a vacation to see his sister in California this month. The first "REAL" vacation we have ever gone on. Usually we go camping or on a weekend retreat but since it was our 20th anniversary year, we decided to spend the money. I was very thrifty with finding deals and coupon codes. Here is the breakdown of our 6 day, 5 night trip.

Southwest Airlines for 2               $515
Hilton Garden Inn in Folsom,CA  $435
Full size rental car (Ford Fusion)  $125
Gas & Spending                         $440

So for under $1500, here is what we saw! Enjoy the pictures!

Napa Valley

San Francisco

Lombard Street

Alcatraz Island (from where we were eating on Pier 39)

Painted Ladies near Alamo Square (I remember these from the TV show Full House!)

San Francisco covered by sun and fog!

All we saw of the Golden Gate Bridge! If we wouldn't have driven over it, I wouldn't believe it was there!

Mr. Creative and I FREEZING in San Francisco!

Old Town Folsom

After eating a HUGE breakfast! Getting ready to hit the antique stores!

Calaveras Big Trees State Park

On our way!

Pictures do not show how HUGE these really are!

Unbelievable! Mr. Creative looks so small to be 6' 2"!

 Stanislaus River

Lake Tahoe

Just amazing!

Fools Gold in the water!

We took a catamaran ride around the lake!

Well, hope you enjoyed this little snapshot of our vacation. We had a wonderful time and now Mr. Creative is on a diet!!  We ate very well, or should I say bad????

Have a great week!

  1. Hi Bonnie! Nice to see you. WOW, what a fantastic vacation, and even better price for the two of you. Your photos are spectacular. I would hate to see your blog go, but I do understand you life has taken a turn, and really it is hard work to keep it up. Just post whenever you have something. With the holidays coming you may get inspired to share. Nice to see you, miss ya out here!

  2. Oh what a fabulous vacation. I've lived on the west coast for years and have seen all of these wonderful places, so your post was great fun to see again and revisit some memories. You made a fantastic trip for very little money and saw so many wonderful places. I hope you will continue your blog if you can. I agree with Debbie, just post when you can, it's not necessary to post everyday or even every week. Thanks for sharing some great photos. Hugs, Marty

  3. Bonnie, you went to one of my favorite places to go. We went many years ago and saw all the same stuff you did. We also toured Alkatraz. It was very cold going out there and we went in Sept., too. So glad you had a good trip.

  4. Hey there!!! So good to hear from you! What an amazing trip! Your pictures are just beautiful! I have never been out west like that and would love to go. We have talked about driving and stopping to see all the crazy stuff like the world's biggest ball of twine and things like that! You too are a gorgeous couple! I am so glad you had fun! I hope you don't quit blogging! I know it is hard to do, but stick with it and do it as you feel like it. Whatever you choose, I will always be here!

  5. What a beautiful trip! I would love to go West sometime for a visit. I would be beside myself! Your photos are fabulous! I really, really loved the sailboats in front of Alcatraz. I bet the catamaran sail was fun too! I hope you continue blogging whenever you can and don't close the blog. It's been so nice getting to know you and would hate to see that end. A blog can be about anything you want it to be. Those of us who do not have a tremendous amount of followers certainly aren't limited to one type. Hang in there!

  6. Looks like a great trip. My uncle used to work in San Francisco and he always said 'the coldest winter I remember was a summer in San Francisco'. :) Your pictures are beautiful.

  7. It looks like you had a wonderful vacation. I went out west with my parents when I was 15 and saw some of the same sights. The redwood forest is incredible. I have a pressed clover leaf that is as big as my hand from there.

I hope you don't take down your blog. I haven't visited in a while as I have had such a busy summer, but have been back at it this month, getting some projects done.

It sounds like you are grieving which is completely understandable and normal. Those are some big changes to deal with. For me, crafting, or painting or creating something is theraputic. When I haven't been able to be creative in a while, I get out of sorts. Maybe a small project will help you too.

I pray you will find a sense of peace and joy in this new phase of your life. Change is hard, but it can also be good too.

  8. What gorgeous pictures! Napa is on my list of places to go. It sounds like y'all had a wonderful trip!

  9. Bonnie, that must have been incredible!! What a fun trip! As far as blogging goes, post when you feel like it! I have to do that or I would go crazy. It's not my life, just an outlet. I sure would love to have a whole set of the raffiaware!! It is hard to put a set together from ebay. Thanks for stopping by! Glad you are back!

  10. Wow, Bonnie, this looks like an awesome trip! So glad you got to go and enjoy it! Have been missing you.......

  11. Oh how fun! The pictures were beautiful! Your hubby did look very small up on that tree. Thank you so much for sharing!

  12. Well girl you were in my old stompin' grounds and my backyard! I grew up right were you were and have walked the same paths' you took and in fact my parents live in Lake Tahoe! Wow what a small world isn't it? So good to see you are enjoying life and things are well!

I know how busy you are and appreciate that you are taking the time to leave me a comment! God Bless! Bonnie
