My Thrifty Christmas Tablescape!

Please remember my giveaway is still going on until Friday!  You can click the link above for more info!!

We are sitting here with ice outside now!!  My oldest son tried to go and get something out of my van last night for me.  He started sliding down the driveway!!  Mr. Creative had to throw him an extension cord from the garage to pull him back up!!  Scary because here is a shot of my driveway over to the right on this picture!!  It is a steep and long way down!

I had to go to the chiropractor yesterday for my back.  Of course it is in the same plaza with Goodwill, so I just had to stop in!!  I am having a small dinner party between Christmas and New Years and I have always wanted Holiday plates but not the whole set to store.  I looked at individual pieces at Walmart and figured it was still going to cost me $20 just for some plates and bowls.  This Goodwill was having 50% off on Christmas, look what I found!

Six dinner and salad plates cost me $4.50!!!  They just have a little holly and some pine branches on them which is great!  I had bought the charger plates after Christmas last year.  This light shows them as really red but they are more of a burgundy red.  The picture below shows more of the true color.

Now this is my first attempt at a tablescape and I don't have a lot of accessories to do this!   If Goodwill holds out for me, I might develop a habit for this!!  I shot the next picture with the candles!

Just paper napkins because I don't own any fabric napkins!!  I like the warm glow of the candles!

Another shot of the table from another angle!

There will be 6 of us for dinner so I will have to finish it out but we need the table to eat on until then so I just did an example for 4!!!

I think I might do the lighting like this for our dinner.  It is bright enough to see but doesn't have the glaring light overhead!  I need a dimmer switch for the chandelier!  Oh, Mr. Creative.....

Thanks for stopping by and I am linking up to the following parties today!!
Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps on the Porch
Holly Bloggy Christmas at The Shabby Chic Cottage
Coastal Charm for Holiday Open House

Keep warm and have a lovely day!!

  6. Bonnie what a great table for your fist tablescaping. I love those plates and that is quite the bargain!! Next time in Goodwill check out the linens. You can find cloth napkins all the time for cheap-o, sometimes never been used. I hope you will keep doing tablescapes, but beware it's addictive!
    hugs, Linda

  9. Wow! That is such a pretty scape for your first one. I love your new dishes, that was a deal! You seem to have the knack for this alright. I know you said you don't have any cloth napkins but do you perhaps have any leftover fabric..hint-hint! LOL! We use paper napkins all the time to though for the most part. Looks like you are going to have quite an enjoyable evening. Stay warm and stay safe!

  15. I think you did a wonderful job! I can guarantee you now that you have done a tablescape...you will become an addict like the rest of us. I barely had any napkins when I started and not one single napkin ring. I still don't have many rings...but the napkin collection has grown and so has my collection of desert plates!

You must have been so excited with finding such a great deal! Love the dishes:)

  26. Your tablescape looks lovely. Those plates you got from GW are gorgeous, and what a steal! I feel for you about the paper napkins, my husband hates cloth napkins. My family teases my 'fussiness' when for the holidays I get the 'nice' paper napkins instead of the paper towels we usually put on the table.
