Taking a Break!

For those of you wondering where I have been...life has gotten in the way of blogging AGAIN!  I have started my new job and LOVE it so far!!  Big adjustment after not working for two years.

My mom is back at the nursing home but I think it is time to find a new place for her.  This one was fine when she was pretty self sufficient but they don't seem to be giving her the attention she needs now that she isn't mobile.

Made a trip to Quincy, IL to visit with my aunt.  She has the beginnings of dementia, too.  Took her to the doctor and tried to get her medicine straightened out.

I did laundry all day today, finished our taxes, applied for FAFSA and scholarships for my son to go to college. I then sat down and read some of my book.  I am mentally drained and needed a mindless romance novel to lessen the load on my brain!

My creativity has gone stale again.  Maybe it is all the snow or added responsibilities.  I'm not sure.  However, I think it is best that I take a little break for a few weeks to get myself energized and focused!

I miss all my blogger friends!  I will be back after this short break!!  Wait for me!!!

A Touch of Valentine in the Foyer

I'm not much for decorating for these holidays.  I'm more of a Christmas and seasonal decorator.  However, since I was trying to get some new vignettes together after clearing Christmas, I thought I would add just a touch of Valentine's Day to the foyer.

Here is what it looked like before Christmas!

Dollar Tree had these scented rose shaped buds that I thought I would display in my cloche.

Here is the full shot.  We don't have very much room so I am pretty limited!  I found the dove at GW for $1 and I think I might add a little glaze to her in order to tone it down some!

Very simple but it smells good when you walk in!  I am linking to Between Naps on the Porch for Met Monday!

We got about 4 inches of more snow Friday night!!!!  On top of what we still have from earlier last week!  Ugh!!  No more snow, I said!!

I had to transport my mom from the hospital back to the nursing home since Medicare won't pay to transport her since she can "sit up".  Crazy!  She seems to be more alert so I am hoping to see something positive when I stop by there today AFTER my first day of work TODAY!!  I don't have to go in until 10 so I thought I would do a quick post this morning!

Thanks for stopping by and I will let you know how it goes!

No More Snow!!!!!

Like most of you, I'm DONE!!  My neck hurts, my back hurts and my hand is cramping!!  I can't shovel anymore!!  We got 3" of sleet and then 4" of snow and now below zero temperatures at night.  UGH!!  So I thought I would share my winter wonderland with you!

Here you see the house with what we could get off of the top of the driveway.  Hoping the sun will melt some of it.

The boys and I dug out our cars and let them run for awhile.  With all that sleet, it was so hard to get doors open and the thick ice off the windows.

Then we moved on to the steep part of the driveway.  Four hours later, here is what we got with help from Mr. Creative!!

It is pretty steep and hopefully we can stop before we hit the trees at the bottom!!!  Here are some just pretty pictures.  Enjoy!

But here is where I rather be...inside next to the fire!!

However, I am venturing out to see my mama at the hospital.  Hopefully they will have taken good care of her while I was snowed in and she is doing better.  Say a prayer or two!!

Have a wonderful day and stay warm!

What I Wore Today Week 2!

This What I Wore Wednesday party looked like fun and a way to get me to think about what I am wearing.  Since I will be going back to work, it will probably cut down on decorating projects some.  Plus I need to come up with some "Creative Decorating (of my wardrobe) on a budget" ideas!!

I showed you my interview outfit and cost breakdown last week.  Here we have a casual running errands and going out to lunch with an old co-worker outfit!!

I tried a belt around my waist but since this are lower cut jeans, I was getting a slight muffin top going on below the belt so it had to go!!
CORRECTION:  Due to my blogger friend comments, I am adjusting this to be a MINI - MUFFIN top!!!  Trust me, it may not be much but it was there!!!

I thought these short boots were great that I found at a thrift store.  I wear a large narrow shoe so it isn't easy for me to find reasonable shoes, let alone from a thrift store that are like new!

You will be surprised that all items are name brand but I purchased at thrift stores, ebay or clearance section of retail stores.

Sweater:  Eddie Bauer clearance $7
Shirt:  Victoria's Secret from eBay $10
Jeans:  Express from eBay $20
Boots: Damiani's real leather from thrift store $11
Purse: eBay $4
Bangle Watch:  Charming Charlies $10
Earrings:  Wal-Mart clearance $3
Necklace:  Premier Designs $Free (gift from MIL)

My SIL sells Premier Jewelry so I am beginning to have quite an assortment!  Very nice jewelry and the company has excellent business ethics and morals.

I figure like decorating, I will get better at this as I go along!  I had to dig this poor mirror out of the basement and put it on a box to capture my tall self!!

I am linking up to What I Wore Wednesday over at The Pleated Poppy!!  Some great ideas over there!
