The Best of 2010!!! Let Me See...

I'm a little slow getting this out there, but hey, I am still enjoying Christmas and New Years!!

Let me see...since I just started blogging in May, I don't have as much but I am sure I can find something!!!  I think I will give my top five before and after reveals!!

Coming in at #5, I think I would have to go with our camper makeover!  Unfortunately, I didn't have a lot of before pictures!  To see the reveal, click HERE for more!  This would be the before (this is the closest picture I could find of what our camper looked like before we remodeled) but nicer than our camper!!

Here is the AFTER!!!  New laminate floors, reupholstered seats, new curtains, painted counter tops....all on a tight budget!!

The counter tops used to look just like the table top.  A lot of hard work!

#4 on our count down of my top 5 for 2010 would be...

Our niece's foreclosure rehab house remodel!  It was definitely the hardest and the most work!  You can read more of the transformation as well as before and after pictures HERE

The kitchen before...SCARY!

Here is the after!

Here is another before shot! What a job!

Here is the amazing after!

All done with labor, wallpaper and paint!  The whole house was remodeled including a bathroom gut job for about $1500!

Let's move on to #3 on my countdown!!  I just loved this dresser makeover!!  It was the first real piece of furniture that I attempted and I am so happy with the results!  Read more HERE!  Let's start with the Craigslist before!

Now let's see the beautiful AFTER!!!!

Let's see...what can I pick for #2????  I think it has to be the little girl's French dresser that I made over and sold!  This was just too cute!  Here is the before pictures and I am sure everyone remembers this style!  To see more detail, click HERE.

Just look at the cutest desk and chair AFTER!!! Adorable!

The little girl that got it came all dressed in a pink dress to match it!!  Too cute!

I am sure you already know what I picked for my #1 favorite!!!  Why it is my kitchen makeover, of course!!!  Let's take a trip down memory lane!  I promise to do some tutorials after the New Year!  Until then, the full reveal can be found HERE.

Here are a few before shots!

Oh, but here is the wonderful AFTER!!!  Enjoy, I sure do!

The True 12 Days of Christmas!

My tree and decorations are still up.  I will begin taking down everything but the tree after New Years.  Does everyone know why????  Because the true Christmas season begins after Christmas.
Contrary to much popular belief, these are not the twelve days before Christmas, but in the twelve days from Christmas until the beginning of Epiphany.

Epiphany is usually celebrated as the time the Wise Men or Magi arrived to present gifts to the young Jesus (Matt. 2:1-12). Therefore, we celebrate the feast of the Epiphany on January 6th.

So my tree remains until January 6th as a celebration of Christ's birth.  Christmas is about Christ and does not end on Christmas Day.  Our homes will get back to normal in plenty of time.

Won't you slow down and celebrate the Epiphany with me???

This is what we woke up to this morning!  Isn't it beautiful??

Here is where we will be most of the time...next to the fire!

Just wanting my family to wish all of you and your families a safe and Merry Christmas!

Love to all this blessed night!

Christmas Gifts

I am very busy wrapping presents!  Trying to make them look pretty even though they don't last too long!!  I hope everyone enjoys what we have bought them this year!  If not, maybe they will be too stunned from the wrapping to notice anything else!!!

I made two more of the 2 tiered stands to give as gifts to a couple of close friends that I used to work with at my last job.  One gal has been my friend there for almost 20 years now!!  The other, I met just a couple years before I left but we really hit it off.  They are both special to me and I miss seeing them everyday.  It is hard to match that work friendship because there are few people you see everyday!

Not having much money, I went to Goodwill (my favorite store it seems) and found these Christmas plates for $1 each, salad plates were .50 each and these candlesticks were .50 each.  I loved that the candlesticks were already Christmas ready!!  So for $2, I made something pretty for my wonderful friends.

I had already made these for my sister-in-laws and my mother-in-law.

Here is the one I made for myself!

I hope everyone likes them as much as I do.  It isn't much but I hope they use them and think nice things about me when they get it out each year!!

I am linking up with House of Grace for Bonnie's Twice Owned Party!!

To all my wonderful friends and family,

Merry Christmas!!

The Big Winner!!! Come On Down!!

Good morning my fellow bloggers!!  I just want you to know that I have found a winner for my giveaway.  Before I relay the good news, let me first say thank you for being my blogging friends!  If it wasn't for all the encouragement and inspiration you give me, I don't think I would have done as many projects as I have and the need to do more!!

Okay enough mushy talk!  I copied all the comments into Excel (since that is my forte) and broke out those that didn't do independent comments to make sure everyone had their proper amount of entries!!  I came up with 68 legitimate comments and I used Random.org to determine that #26 is the winner, which is Sue (Someone's Mom)!!  Congratulations, Sue!! Here is Sue's comment!

Sue (Someone's Mom) said..
Congrats on the milestone! If money were no object...the Buhler Furniture Modesto Credenza Fireplace would be mine. It holds the televison and has that fireplace that I miss so much!

My Thrifty Christmas Tablescape!

Please remember my giveaway is still going on until Friday!  You can click the link above for more info!!

We are sitting here with ice outside now!!  My oldest son tried to go and get something out of my van last night for me.  He started sliding down the driveway!!  Mr. Creative had to throw him an extension cord from the garage to pull him back up!!  Scary because here is a shot of my driveway over to the right on this picture!!  It is a steep and long way down!

I had to go to the chiropractor yesterday for my back.  Of course it is in the same plaza with Goodwill, so I just had to stop in!!  I am having a small dinner party between Christmas and New Years and I have always wanted Holiday plates but not the whole set to store.  I looked at individual pieces at Walmart and figured it was still going to cost me $20 just for some plates and bowls.  This Goodwill was having 50% off on Christmas, look what I found!

Six dinner and salad plates cost me $4.50!!!  They just have a little holly and some pine branches on them which is great!  I had bought the charger plates after Christmas last year.  This light shows them as really red but they are more of a burgundy red.  The picture below shows more of the true color.

Now this is my first attempt at a tablescape and I don't have a lot of accessories to do this!   If Goodwill holds out for me, I might develop a habit for this!!  I shot the next picture with the candles!

Just paper napkins because I don't own any fabric napkins!!  I like the warm glow of the candles!

Another shot of the table from another angle!

There will be 6 of us for dinner so I will have to finish it out but we need the table to eat on until then so I just did an example for 4!!!

I think I might do the lighting like this for our dinner.  It is bright enough to see but doesn't have the glaring light overhead!  I need a dimmer switch for the chandelier!  Oh, Mr. Creative.....

Thanks for stopping by and I am linking up to the following parties today!!

Christmas Home Tour

First I want to thank Lindsey again, at Better After, for featuring my kitchen makeover on her blog!!!  I am just thrilled!!!  To see the reveal, please view my post HERE!  Thanks Lindsey!!

I also wanted to participate in Sherry's Share the Decor party, at No Minimalist Here!  So most of these pictures you have already seen but hey, I worked too hard not to show them again!!!

I'm not happy with my outside pictures, but I am going to show you anyway just because I like to keep it real!!  However, no snickering!!  Just a few things to make the porch more festive!

Here is the snickering part!  My pre-lit topiary trees won't light so I slapped some ribbon and ornaments on them.  Then I cut an old runner to hide the base.  Pretty cheesy if you ask me!!  They  are either going away next year or I might add some lights to them.

I do like my wreath that I spruced up after watching Liz!! I have another sleigh that belonged to Mr. Creative's family when they were kids.  I added some cedar from the woods, an old stocking of his and a bow!!  It works for this year!!

Okay, come on in to the foyer!  It is cheesy too!!  I only had enough funds to work on the living room and dining room this year!

To the right we have the dining room!!

We will cut through the dining room into the kitchen!!

Now for the grand finale!!!!  I am very happy with my family room this year!!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you will go and visit the others!!!

Merry Christmas!!
