My Kitchen Reveal!!

I know I have been teasing everyone with little snippets from our kitchen makeover.  It isn't completely done but probably as far as it will get until after Christmas.  Do you remember the
BEFORE?????

Take a look at this AFTER!!!

Do you see those painted counter tops???  How about those painted and glazed cabinets???  You name it, I just about painted it!!!  Here is more AFTERS!!!!

I designed the curtain valances and think they may need a little trim...later!!  I was really happy with how the faux copper tin back splash turned out!

Love the red of the panels on the patio door.  I think the patio door needs to be painted black.  Next year!!  I like the round rug under the table and the matching runner!

I was excited about how the black cabinets turned out with the distressing and copper handles I painted!

I want something a little taller where the white bowl is sitting.  The way the halogen track style lighting shines on the cabinets just makes them glow!!  I love it!!

The bakers rack has to go eventually.  But first I have to get an under cabinet microwave.  I want to put a desk there.  On the left of the window I would like a small hutch to put some pretties on!  I also want to paint my table and chairs.

I think eventually I will paint the lower part of the walls in the formal dining room in the same brown color to draw the eye into that room and blend them.  This chandelier here in the breakfast room has to go soon, too!!

Close up of some vignettes!!

Our coffee brewing station!  I painted the tray and put toile wallpaper in it.

So what do you think????  I just love it.  It makes me smile when I walk in there!  It still needs trim above and below the cabinets, the grout needs color fixing on the floor but for now it is wonderful!!!  Just in time for Christmas!

Thank you so much for all the wonderful and supportive comments you bloggers have given me!!  I loved it that people were paying attention to the little teasing snippets of the kitchen that I posted!!!  Have a great evening!

Bonnie, it is stupendous and fantastic and what a great job you did with a small budget. Repainting the cabinets made a huge difference. Love the black side. Your counter tops are magnificent. You should share a tutorial on that for others that may want to do that. Thanks so much for sharing this at my party!

L-O-V-E it!! We have cabinets that at one time where the whitewashed/pickeled which are now yellowish...ICK! I have been beggin to paint them but he hasn't been sold yet. I am hoping seeing your before/after pics will sell him on the idea! What color of paint and glaze did you use on your top cabinets?
I also have a light over our table identical to yours which I saw on a blog the other day where they were able to switch the arms right side up so the lights faced upwards and then they were able to use the cute lil lampshades which I am definitely going to try this weekend while he's out of town:) GREAT job once again...CONGRATS!!

Bonnie@Creative Decorating said...

Cgal, I wanted to contact you but I didn't find a blog or an email address!! The paint color of the cabinets was Dutch Boy #W011 Pale Moon from Walmart but I had the color mixed using Kilz Colors paint. That way I only had to do one coat. The glaze is Valspar Mocha glaze. Great idea on the chandelier! I am going to try that because I already have the little lampshades I bought at a garage sale!!

You have done an awesome job! Everything looks just beautiful. I can relate to remodeling a kitchen. It takes time and money. We just installed the backsplash which was the last thing to do on our "to do list" in the kitchen. It has taken us almost a year to complete everything.

Enjoy your day.

that was fun looking at your makeover! you have (had) the same counter top as mine and the same hanging light fixture. I did the exact same thing to the light fixture, I painted mine flat black. You might try removing those rings from the glass, I did that and it completely changed the look of the light. I am looking forward to painting the kitchen cabinets this coming year, now I might do the counter tops. So glad you posted this!

Your kitchen is beautiful. It matches your blog background too. Your counter looks similar to my new counter. I had my cabinets painted, new counters and new floors. I didn't get good before pictures which was bad on my part. Oh well!! It's the after that matters.

Thanks for sharing. Katharine

I love your new kitchen! I wandered over here from the Before and After blog, and I'm so glad I did! My 1980's oak cabinets look just like your before picture. They are even the same color and have the same doors! We've replaced the old countertops with new quartz ones already and now I'm trying to convince my husband to let me paint the cabinets. I'm going to bring him over to your blog for a visit!

Wow, I was looking at your before (WAAAY before) photos, your first 'after' and the final. What a transformation. What is amazing is how much we have in common. I used that EXACT fruit wallpaper in my last house and I loved it! Now, I would not dream of using that.

My current kitchen has the same exact oak cabinets and ugly boring beige counter. I added wainscoatting to the island and painted black too but have not tackled the rest of the cupboards. But what I have in mind is almost identical. We even have the same colors. Great job! You are giving me the courage to tackle it
